Post independence Africa has been a theater of very violent conflicts. Many of these conflicts are concentrated in the regions with a precious pool of natural resources such as diamonds and oil. Sierra Leone is among those countries whose natural resources have been a source of conflict instead of peace and development. The country had a bloody war from 1991 to 2000 between the rebels Revolutionary United Front and the government. The civil war led thousands of child soldiers and by the end of hostilities in 2001, about 50 thousands people had been killed and almost 2 million displaced.

Viewpoint of perspective 1 : Sierra Leone: They are trying to have all the diamonds and oil.

Viewpoint of perspective 2 : Africa: Is trying to have peace with diamonds and oil.
